Flip-Flap is an shade screen made up of triangular modules containing Phase Change Material (PCM). PCM's are known for their thermal energy storage. PCM's act in a similar fashion to a thick concrete wall, but can be 10x thinner. As temperatures outside heat up the PCM will melt and absorb the heat, keeping the indoor environment cool. Then when temperatures outside drop the material re-solidifies, a molecular reaction that creates heat distributing it to the indoor space. Flip-Flap is a module shutter system that can be altered and adjusted by the user. Flip-Flaps modules, containing PCM are attached using custom 3D Printed clips that can rotate 180 degrees, creating more or less protection and insulation from the outside world throughout the day.
